In the Unlikely Event Cover
“In the Unlikely Event” was a selection from my book club and when i saw who the author was, it was a blast from the past. I grew up on Judy Blume, often reading her books in the cover of darkness, afraid of being caught reading what would have been considered “racey” material. Until now, i didn’t realize Judy Blume had moved into adult fiction books.

I toggled back and forth on 3 and 4 stars when rating this book. It was a smooth read and held my attention, but i was frustrated with the amount of characters being introduced. I had a difficult time keeping up with who was who and how they were connected. I thought the main characters were developed well. I was drawn in to Miri and her family, as well as her relationship with Mason. I thought the ending of the book was very well done. It was nice to see the reunion and reconcilation of several of the main characters.

I love books that bring in real-life events such as this one. I was not familiar with the plane crashes that took place in Elizabeth, NJ.

Overall, i enjoyed this book and would have rated higher if there would have been less point of views introduced.
